What is an BS 99001?
BS 99001 is a Quality Management System standard specifically developed for the built environment sector. Published in July 2022, this standard was developed in response to industry challenges highlighted by the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the subsequent Hackitt Report.
BS 99001 translates high-level quality principles into the specific language of construction and aims to provide a tool for sector-wide engagement and support for improvements in the suitability, safety, and durability of built environment assets.
It is designed to be an enhancement to ISO 9001, not a replacement. To be certified to BS 99001, an organisation must also be certified to ISO 9001.
