Paddling and Peddling for charity
The first of this year’s two Dragon Boat Racing events being held at Fairlands Valley Lake, Stevenage saw Blackmores ‘Quality Crew’ pegged back to second place in a closely contested final. Eleven teams took part in the Challenge Central event, helping to raise funds for The Living Room Charity in Stevenage. The Living Room provides treatment to enable people to gain freedom from their addictions and to support their families, children and friends. The Quality Crew had the fastest times in the heats and semi-final, but ‘Not Easy Jet’ proved too strong for them in the final and came through with the fastest time of the day to win by a dragon’s head. It seems that it was the Quality Crew’s turn to be beaten by a dragon’s head this time round. There is a second event in September which will give Blackmores the opportunity to win their crown back.
On Sunday 17th May, Blackmores will be donning their cycle helmets and hitting the road in the London to Brighton bike ride to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. Paul Robinson, Mel Blackmore and Paul Blackmore make up the Blackmores team. Training has been intense…well, for Paul Robinson at least, who is a veteran at this event!
