ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety

What is ISO 45001?

Occupational health and safety in the work place is always a major concern for all organisations. Having an occupational health and safety management system will help you to protect your most important asset; your people. ISO 45001:2018 provides a robust set of requirements designed for improving workplace safety in organisations and supply chains, with the aim of reducing workplace injury and illness. The new OH&S standard is based on a framework that requires organisations to plan and implement the processes that need to be put in place to reduce harm and prevent injury and ill health.

ISO 45001:2018 replaces BS OHSAS 18001, the former British standard for workplace health and safety. If you are already certified to OHSAS 18001, you will have three years to migrate to the new standard.

Benefits to your company include:

  • Reduced injuries and illness through proactive risk prevention and continual improvement
  • Easy to integrate with other management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 27001
  • Improve communication across the business to identify and eliminate hazards, control risks and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Legal and regulatory compliance while reducing business losses
  • Demonstrate responsibility by committing to healthy, safe and sustainable workplaces
  • One global occupational health and safety management system standard for all businesses all sizes.
