Recent Legislation Updates

The Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2015
These Regulations revoke and remake Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations 2009. The Regulations give effect to EC Regulation No 517/2014 which are designed to reduce emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases (F Gases), predominantly used in the refrigeration and air conditioning sectors and which make a significant contribution to climate change. Effective from 19th March 2015, one prominent change to the Regulations concerns a change to criteria for leak testing F Gas containing equipment, to be based on global warming potential rather than weight.

The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (Allocation of Allowances for Payment) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2014
Effective from the 1st April 2015, these Regulations set the price of CRC allowances from 2015 used in an emissions trading scheme. The Regulations also stipulate that payments for allowances cannot be made using a credit card.

The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2015
Effective from 6th April 2015, these Regulations amend The Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010 to give the Environment Agency the power of enforcement for noncompliance with certain offences under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.

The Control of Noise (Code of Practice for Construction and Open Sites) (England) Order 2015
Effective from 6th April 2015, these Regulations specify that the British Standard BS 5228-1:2009 (Part 1: Noise and Part 2: Vibration) are approved for the purpose of giving guidance on appropriate methods for minimising noise from construction and open sites.
